Chickens have much to teach us

A lot of people all over have backyard flocks of chickens this year. I hope they are learning something from their birds:

• chickens are easily worried or scared. i look at them and think - i don't want to live my life flapping around. I will be unflappable!
• chickens create a heirarchy in the coop, from day one. there is a distinct order to their bossiness. i try not to be at the bottom of the pecking order!
• chickens will hang out with similar chickens - we had a coop full of 5 different breeds. i like not always being one of those people who hang out with people just like me. birds of a feather don't always have to flock together.
